Australia Training Visa (Subclass 407) — Informational

The Training visa (subclass 407) is for workplace-based occupational training to improve skills for your current job, a tertiary study area, a field of expertise, or a professional development program in Australia. It is NOT a general work visa — it's strictly for structured training. The visa requires: (1) an approved Temporary Activities sponsor in Australia, (2) an approved nomination (unless the sponsor is a Commonwealth Government Agency), and (3) the applicant's own visa application. Stay up to 2 years.

Please note: we do not deal with work permits or workplace-training categories for foreign countries. This page is informational only. Training visa (subclass 407) applications involve sponsor + nomination approval processes that are best handled by a MARA-registered Australian Migration Agent or directly with your Australian sponsoring organisation.

Special Instructions — Read Before Applying

These requirements apply to ALL Australia visa types. Violations mean your application will be rejected — read each one carefully.

  • 1This visa requires THREE separate Department approvals: sponsorship, nomination, and the visa itself. Plan accordingly — allow 4–8 months overall.
  • 2The Training visa is NOT a work visa. You cannot use it for ordinary employment. Misuse can lead to cancellation and bans.
  • 3Family members who are granted the same visa can only work up to 40 hours every two weeks in Australia.
  • 4SureshotVisa does not process this category — refer to a MARA-registered Australian Migration Agent or your Australian sponsor's HR/legal team.
